    Barbara Cox
    BARBARA COX (2023 Recipient)
    Barbara Cox was a teacher and coach at Coleman High School from 1981 until her retirement in 2012. She taught Biology, IPC, Driver’s Education, and Fundamentals of Math. She was Head Basketball Coach for 24 years, Head Track Coach for 31 years, Head Cross Country Coach for 19 years, Girls’ Athletic Director for 7 years and Dean of Students for 6 years. She advanced players to State in every discipline. She has impacted hundreds of lives preparing students to be successful adults.

    HURSCHEL G. DUNN (2023 Recipient)
    Hurschel G. Dunn graduated Coleman High School in 1931. He was a Texas Highway Patrolman, farmer and educator. He taught at Coleman High School from 1952 until 1966 where he taught Social Studies, Drama and Driver’s Education.  In 1952, he began teaching the very first Driver’s Education Class at Coleman High School and continued as the instructor until 1966.

    DR. R.M. EDINGTON (2023 Recipient)
    Dr. R.M. (Mike) Edington graduated Coleman High School in 1967. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated from Texas A&M Veterinary School in 1972. He returned to Coleman and partnered with Dr. Joe Pat Hemphill to open the Coleman Veterinary Clinic. He serves on many local, state and national organizations. Dr. Edington served on the Coleman ISD Board of Trustees for 22 years and was School Board President for 19 years.

    Randal Halfmann
    DR. RANDAL HALFMANN (2023 Recipient)
    Dr. Randal Halfmann graduated Valedictorian of Coleman High School in 2000. He attended Texas A&M University where he received his B.S. in Genetics in 2004. He then received his Ph.D. from MIT. While at MIT, he was a recipient of a fellowship from the National Science Foundation where his work centered on the study of prions. Randal currently runs the Halfmann Lab at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research in Kansas City, MO where he has received research grants from the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, and the National Institutes of Health. His current research is focused on the mechanisms of cancer
    and aging.

    Judia Terry
    JUDIA KEMPER TERRY (2023 Recipient)
    Judia Terry graduated Coleman High School in 1961. Judia lived and worked in the art field most of her life. She was a portrait painter, muralist and commercial artist. She studied and painted in Brussels, Belgium, and has sold and exhibited in Europe, as well as the United States, and has also illustrated a number of books. She was also an avid historian and was editor of “A History of Coleman County and Its People” as well as many articles and books written about Coleman County.
