Welcome to 3rd Grade ELAR
A little about me:
My family lived in Coleman when I was born, but shortly after my birth, my father went to work in the oilfields of West Texas. I went to elementary school in Rankin, Texas and attended Junior High and High School in Sonora, Texas. I originally sought a business degree from ASU in San Angelo, shortly before graduating I went to work in the same West Texas oilfields that my dad once worked. I eventually returned to college to seek a degree that would allow me to teach, which had always been my dream. I graduated from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, UTPB, with a Bachelors of Arts in English and a Minor in Mathematics. I earned a Masters of Arts Degree in Reading at UTPB and took additional graduate classes at The University of North Texas in Library Science. I am certified to teach English and Math from 1st to 8th grade, Elementary Self Contained Classes, and ESL classes. This year I will begin my 21st year of teaching and my 3rd year of teaching at CISD. I am so excited to begin this school year!
Goal for Success:
My goal for all students at Coleman Elementary is to put each and every child on a path in which they can be successful, contributing individuals in their communities. In my classroom, this goal will be achieved by setting high expectations, teaching strategies that can be used across all content areas, and helping students develop a love for learning and reading that will exist throughout their entire lives.
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn. -Benjamin Franklin
