CAROLE BURROUGHS, 2026 Recipient
Carole Burroughs graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1956 and began her 38-year career with Coleman ISD in 1960 as a teacher, coach, and mentor. She helped establish Coleman Jr. High's first girls' athletic teams, coached girls' basketball and track, and taught PE, math, and American History. Mrs. Burroughs also sponsored cheerleading and student council, started intramural basketball for younger girls, co-founded the Coleman Summer Recreation Program, and taught Red Cross water safety classes. Known affectionately as "Mrs. B.", she continued serving the community after retirement as an election judge and through numerous civic organizations. 
 
DR. ARTTHUR C. "SKIP" CASEY, JR., 2026 Recipient
 Dr. Skip Casey served as Superintendent of Coleman ISD for 18 years from 1986 to 2004, leading the district through major campus improvements, expanded technology, college access, and community education programs. He established the nationally recognized CAP High School for at-risk students, created scholarship and after-school programs, and founded the Coleman ISD Foundation. Despite significant economic challenges, Coleman ISD earned "Recognized" status for six consecutive years. Dr. Casey was named ESC Region 15 Superintendent of the Year and a Top Five finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year, Coleman Chamber "Citizen of the Year", Coleman Jr. Chamber of Commerce "Looking Up Award", and Coleman Booster Club Top Cat Award.
 
HAROLD SKELTON, 2026 Recipient
Harold Skelton, a lifelong Coleman resident, graduated from Coleman High School in 1966 and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southwest Texas State University. He worked for the IRS and a private firm before returning to Coleman in 1980 to open his own accounting practice. A devoted community servant, Harold help leadership roles in the Coleman Rodeo Board, City Council, and the Economic Development Board. Most notably, he served 18 1/2 years on the Coleman ISD Board of Trustees, dedicating himself to students and faculty with integrity, fairness, and thoughtful leadership. Harold also shared his financial expertise to assist numerous local clubs and organizations. 
 
RUTH GRIFFIN STAGGS, 2026 Recipient
Ruth Griffin Staggs was a 1928 graduate of Coleman High School and attended Abilene Christian College. She earned a Temporary Teacher's Certificate in 1929 and taught at the Miller School in Couth Coleman County before marrying. She later raised ten children and remained deeply involved in education through school activities, the PTA, and volunteer service. In 1957, Ruth joined Coleman Chronicle & Democrat Voice, where she worked for 24 years as a writer of the Society News section. Ruth is remembered for her lifelong commitment to education, service, and community. 
 
ROYCE YOUNG, 2026 Recipient 
Royce Young, a 1973 graduate of Coleman High School, dedicated 36 years to Coleman ISD as teacher, counselor, principal, and superintendent. During his leadership, he implemented innovative academic programs, expanded technology and dual-credit courses, and oversaw major facility improvements, including new athletic and agriculture facilities. Under his guidance, Coleman High School earned Exemplary Campus status, and the district successfully consolidated with Novice ISD. Royce also served the community through the Rotary Club, the Coleman County Special Utility District, and  the Coleman Economic Development board.
