COVID-19 Press Release - 03/31/2020
Based on the March 31st executive order of Governor Abbott, Colema ISD reports the extension of closure until at least May 4, 2020.
Districts will maintain their off-campus instructional programs for students and their meal programs, according to each district’s plan. Personnel should maintain communication with their supervisors to coordinate work to maintain core district operations. Staff who have been providing their services remotely should continue to do so in coordination with their supervisors.

MEALS PROVIDED FOR CISD STUDENTS
In an effort to minimize the impact on parents and students during the extended suspension of normal district operations, Coleman ISD will provide sack breakfasts and sack lunches Monday through Friday for elementary and secondary students. The sacks are to be picked up at the softball field.
- Breakfast sacks will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
- Lunch sack will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Please call any campus between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to sign up for meals.
Due to federal guidelines the meals from Coleman ISD have to be given to children 18 years and younger. In order for us to follow the guideline the children will have to be in the vehicle at the time of meal pickup.
Coleman ISD will provide free meals to students at drop off locations in the NOVICE, BURKETT and LAKE COLEMAN areas. If you would like to request meals for your child(ren), please contact your campus office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to sign up.
NOTICE OF BOARD MEETING BY VIDEOCONFERENCE
A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Coleman Independent School District will be held on March 26, 2020, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, this meeting will be conducted by videoconference. At least a quorum of the board will be participating by videoconference or in accordance with the provisions of Sections 551.125 or 551.127 of the Texas Government Code that have not been suspended by order of the governor.
Members of the public may access this meeting as follows: Access online at www.zoom.us/join and enter Meeting ID 231 839 740. An electronic copy of the agenda packet is attached to this online notice.
Public comments related to this meeting will be handled as follows: Any persons who desire to address the board during the public comment section of the board meeting, must pre-register to speak during the board meeting. All public comment requests are to be submitted to the superintendent at email@example.com or call 325-625-3575 by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2019. Persons registered to speak during the public comment portion will be unmuted for 5 minutes to speak.
The open portions of this meeting will be recorded and made available to the public upon request.
If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, chapter 551, subchapters D and E or Texas Government Code section 418.183(f). Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting. CISD Statement Regarding the Coronavirus
Coleman ISD is closely monitoring media reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). While no cases have been suspected among our local community, we are following the guidance provided by the Texas Education Agency, Texas Health and Human Services and the CDC. Public health officials believe the risk to our school community is low at this time, but we understand that this is a source of concern to the community and will remain vigilant in monitoring and responding to this ever-evolving situation.
Coleman ISD School Trustee Election
The Coleman ISD Board of Trustees Election scheduled for May 2, 2020 has been cancelled due to unopposed candidates. The Coleman school district has three places up for election. Place 1, Place 2, and Place 3 are currently held by John Casey, Mark Martinez, and Joshua Hale respectively.
