Grant Title: College Readiness Initiative for Middle School Students

Grant Goals:
1. To prepare 7th and 8th grade students to be successful on the Algebra I and English I End of Course Exams and meet College Readiness Standards on Englihs III and Algebra II End of Course Exams.
2. To provide 7th and 8th grade math and English teachers with increased content knowledge and instructional strategies in order to increase college readiness in all students.
3. To foster a college going culture and prepare students for rigorous high school and post secondary studies.

Hispanic - 23.9%
White - 73.4%
Native American - 0.5%
LEP Students - 1.4%
At Risk - 43.6%
Mobility rate 20.1%

Grant Progress
1. Mentor elective classes are set up and running on each grade level. 2. Focus Team is formed and attended Houston workshop. 3. Webinars for all teachers have begun. 4. The Focus Team has set up "ICU" for incomplete or missing student work. 5. Making Middle Grades Work representatives have visited with teachers and students and have reported findings.
